Bon Appétit’s deputy editor Julia Kramer visited more than 200 restaurants in 34 cities across America to determine the best new restaurants, and Nashville’s own Tailor has earned its place amongst the top 10. Released by Bon Appétit today, Tailor comes in at number 7, on the magazine’s prestigious annual Hot 10 list of America’s best new restaurants.
"It is such a huge and unexpected honor to be recognized as one of the best new restaurants in the country, and we are humbled to be in the company of restaurants we admire and can't wait to visit," said Vivek Surti, culinary creator of Tailor.
"Our recognition, however, is truly a testament to our entire Nashville community, and this is as much a great recognition for them as it is for us. There is no better place to live in America than Nashville, Tenn. There is so much more to this town that most people realize. We are proud to play a small role in the scene, and we are honored to represent our hometown on the national stage. This is a win, not just for our team, but for our city as well. I must also thank our family - my parents, Tarun and Lata, and my sister, Zarna - for all of their support in this endeavor. Growing up, Gujarati food was something I took for granted. Being a First Generation American with parents of Indian heritage is a true blessing, and I couldn't be more honored to share our culture, our cuisine and our traditions with every single guest that walks through the door."
A gratis dessert when service is slow. But the particular brand of radical generosity on display at Tailor, the brick-and-mortar evolution of chef Vivek Surti’s beloved Nashville pop-up, exists on a higher plane. It’s personal, direct, honest.” Tailor’s spotlight in Bon Appétit’s Hot 10 continues by saying, “Surti’s storytelling suffuses the space and the food served within it with so much vulnerability and personality and love that you could not possibly be anywhere but ‘our home,’ as he refers to the restaurant. Which is exactly where you want to be. To dine at Tailor is to be his guest, fully and completely. And that’s a rare kind of generosity indeed.” Reservations to experience Tailor can be made online at www.tailornashville.com at 6 p.m. and 8:30 every Thursday through Sunday. The restaurant is also available for private dining experiences upon request.
